Like an impressionist painting of the sky, this beautiful aurora was captured on film last month, September 7, 2002 at Mont Cosmos observatory in St-Elzéar, Québec, Canada. It was taken with a Pentax ME super camera (15 mm lens, f 3.5) on fuji color 1600 film, using a 15 second exposure. With the Sun setting earlier and earlier each night, October is often a good month for viewing auroras, even if you don't happen to live in Canada.
