For those of you who are snow lovers, notice the huge positive snow anomalies (in blue) for last month in eastern and central Canada, and also for much of eastern Russia, central Asia, Mongolia, and far eastern Russia. In North America, only western Alaska shows a negative snow anomaly (yellow) for October. Does this excess snow bode well for a snowy, cold winter in the US? Not according to the recent winter forecast issued for December through February, which indicates that most of the north central US will be warmer than usual.
