The above photo shows a glorious splash of color, thanks to "Old Glory," on an otherwise black and white kind of day. In Green Bay, Wisconsin the first significant snowfall of the 2002-2003 season fell on December 28. This sticky and wet 3 inch (7.5 cm) snowfall constituted nearly all of the monthly precipitation in the northeastern part of the state. Since much of this area relies on skiing and snowmobiling tourist trade, the absence of a White Christmas was more serious than the loss of an aesthetic tradition.
