While traveling across the Great Plains of Montana toward Glacier National Park in late June, we were greeted by an interesting display of clouds and sunbeams. Crepuscular rays, caused by the low Sun streaming around ragged cloud edges, provided backlighting for an isolated rain shower. The above photo was taken on the morning of June 27, 2003, at 07:26 a.m., from a ridge just west of Shelby, Montana.
