This full rainbow photo was captured in New Hampshire, west of the White Mountains, on October 2, 2003. We left Deer Isle, Maine during the morning and headed westt, encountering thunderstorms along the way. Just north of Mt. Washington, we drove through mixed rain and snow, and later, when we passed the mountains, we saw this indelible double rainbow. Notice how the colors of the primary bow (inner bow) and the secondary bow (outer bow) are reversed. The extended height of the bows reveals that this photo was taken very near sunset.
