Unlike yesterday's pillar photo, this more subtle Sun pillar, colors the sky sanguine. Differences in coloration result primarily from differences in the Sun's distance below the horizon, cloud cover and height. This pillar was captured at nightfall near Adelaide, Australia. I had just returned to my apartment and noticed that the living-room was lit up red from the Sun's glow.
