The above photo was taken on October 19, 2003 near Tomah, Wisconsin when cranberries were at their peak in ripeness. Central and northern Wisconsin have numerous cranberry bogs, and these bogs, or cultivated beds, are separated by dikes and flooded in the fall. The bed at right shows floating cranberries, which have been corralled prior to harvesting, and the bed at the far has already been harvested and drained.

Happy Thanksgiving!
