The above photo shows a portion of the Free Environmental University (UNILIVRE in Portuguese), located in Curitiba, Brazil. The goal of this university is to disseminate environmental knowledge, including conservation of Brazil's precious resources, to all strata of Curitiba's society. Curitiba is a city of about 1.6 million people and is located in southern Brazil, approximately 400 km from Sao Paulo and 100 km from the Atlantic Ocean. The university was designed by Jamie Lerner, a past mayor, who planned much of modern Curibita.
