The above photo was taken on a commercial flight from New York, heading west toward Detroit, on a December evening in 2002. I looked out the window and was inspired by this scene showing the setting Sun and multiple cloud layers, so I threw an airline blanket over my head and the window and snapped this picture. The upper surface of the stratus cloud deck resembles a frozen, snow covered landscape. Cirrus type clouds can be seen in the vicintiy of the Sun, above the stratus deck.
