The photo above of the Green Gardens Trail in Gros Morne National Park, Newfoundland was taken in August of 2003. This interesting geologic area, along the Gulf of St. Lawrence, features pillow lavas juxtaposed with twisted basalt flows. Clashing of continental masses million of years ago is responsible for the complex geomorphology and geology found here. Gros Morne National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
