The photo above showing the reclining crescent Moon and brilliant Venus was taken in the early morning on October 11, 2004, from Svalboviken, Sweden. Where I live, the eastern sky near the horizon is obscured by forests. So I hardly believed my eyes when I got up to let the dogs out and saw the celestial sight before me. The darkness had just started to give away to dawn, and there they were; the crescent Moon and the morning star in all their glory. If you're up early the next couple of days, look for the sliver of the crescent Moon in the eastern sky.
