This photo of 9,131 ft (2,783 m) Mt. Shuksan, with it's snow capped crown brightly lit by the setting Sun, was taken from Picture Lake on November 27, 2004. Mt. Shuksan is tucked in the corner of North Cascade National Park and lies about 10 miles (16 km) northeast of Mt Baker Ski, in northwest Washington State. Unlike some of its more explosive neighbors, Mt. Shuksan hasn't erupted in thousands of years.
