This glorious sunset complete with crepuscular rays was captured near Wuerzburg, Germany (southern Germany) in January of 2005. It was taken out of my car window by my girl friend, Anne Blumstein -- the settings were pre set for twilight conditions. As the Sun sets or rises, if clouds are positioned just right, as is the case above, rays of sunlight can be observed interspersed with shadows (darker bands). The rays appear to focalize toward the horizon, like railroad tracks converging in the distance. Of course, they're actually parallel columns of sunlight and shadow.
