The above photo showing an array of delicate, blue-white noctilucent clouds was taken from Norway (62 degrees north latitude) on July 31, 2005 at 0206. Noctilucent cloud (NLC) activity as seen from Norway has been quite intense this summer. These high altitude clouds (80 km or more above the surface) are only observed during twilight, and they're believed to consist of ice covered particles, possibly meteoritic dust.
