The eye catching sky shadow shown above was taken on July 25, 2005, from Fountain Hills, Arizona. The clouds in the foreground add interest to the twilight scene but played no role in producing this profound slice across the sky. Rather, an unseen cloud below the horizon (perhaps a towering cumulonimbus cloud) is effectively blocking part of the sunlight, thus casting this fascinating shadow beneath the orange colored clouds.
