This high arched, pinkish rainbow was captured just after sunset on the evening of September 9, 2005, from Kamouraska, (Québec) Canada. Rainbows always loom large in the eastern sky if visible at sunset or soon afterward. As is the case with the color of the twilight sky, only the longest wavelengths of visible light (oranges and reds) can be detected in rainbows after the Sun sets or before it rises.
