This majestic photo showing pinkish precipitation streaks was taken looking east at sunset, as nimbus clouds were moving in from the south east across the city of Grafton, New South Wales, Australia. The falling rain was reflecting the Sun’s reddened light, but likely evaporated before reaching the ground (virga) as the near surface air was quite dry. Photo taken on September 8, 2006.
