The photo above shows a rare funnel cloud above northern Egypt. I was near the Plaza of the Bibliotheca, Egypt's newly revived monument in Alexandrina, and was fortunate enough to capture this rope like funnel on film. I kept observing the tornado's development (it did eventually reach the surface but no damage was recorded), obtaining a sequence of images showing most of its life cycle. Tornados are seldomly observed in Egypt --the last confirmed Egyptian twister occurred in 1981.
