Viterbo Sunset and Comet McNaught

The above photo shows Comet McNaught (at top) from Viterbo, Italy on January 13, 2007. At this time, it was a magnitude -4.7 -- one of the most brilliant comets in the past 40 years. I took the photo at sunset, and in addition to the breathtaking comet, I was fortunate to capture a magnificent scarlet sky, as well as the "green flash" and distortions in the shape of the Sun (insets). Note the lengthy contrail, which seems to separate the realm of the comet from the realm of the setting Sun.
