The photo above was captured during a fantastic electrical storm over the stone ruins of a church in the Mojave Desert of California. Church steeples are often targets for lightning strikes, but it's unlikely that a thunderstorm led to the demise and abandonment of this still solid appearing structure.

Today is Friday the 13th, and the last time a Friday fell on the 13th day of the month was, let's see, 13 weeks ago! So for those people subject to paraskevidekatriaphobia, keep your fingers crossed on both hands, avoid walking under ladders and by all means stay indoors if you hear thunder.
