The photo above of this oddly patterned sky was taken from the Old Oakland Airport in Oakland, California on May 11, 2006. These "clouds" covered the whole sky, and I recall that it was unusually calm -- no winds at the surface. They appear to be a cirro cloud form of some type -- perhaps fibratus species.
