This picture was taken just before a large monsoon rainstorm hit Bangkok, Thailand on April 25, 2007. The weather had been amazingly clear and then all of a sudden a massive black cloud swept in and blanketed the city. Winds were nearly hurricane force, causing branches and limbs to snap and the rain rate was as great as I had ever observed. A pronounced change in wind direction typifies the arrival of monsoon conditions. In southeast Asia, during April, wet monsoon winds move in from the Indian Ocean. Photo taken at 18:45 (local time).
