Seen in the background here, the volcano Gunung Agung ("Great Mountain") in central Indonesia has a classic conical shape and at approximately 3,014 m (9,888 ft) is the highest point on the island of Bali. It forms a beautiful backdrop for sunrise photos from Sanur Beach in Bali. This active stratovolcano exploded violently in 1963, resulting in colorful sunrises and sunsets not only in Indonesia but all over the globe as well. Photo taken in April of 2007.
