The photo above showing an alluring altostratus sunset was taken this past October from Hertfordshire, United Kingdom. Both the surface and the sky had an eerie orange cast. In fact, due to the range of brightness, this was a rather difficult exposure to capture. The increased path length of sunlight when the Sun is just below the horizon, in the presence of clouds and or aerosols, often results in rich twilight colors.
