The photo above showing a resplendent sky soon after sundown was taken over Key Largo, Florida on October 2, 2007. Clouds lingered all day long but were well positioned to produce an eye-catching sunset and twilight sky. The intensity of the color and the length of time the color was sustained were unusual, even in the Keys. When the Sun is low in the sky, or just beneath the horizon, the long path-length of sunlight that results may produce rich twilight colors if clouds or aerosols (dust and salt particles) are present.
