Cave Rock, in the mid-ground of the photo above, partially protrudes into the beautiful blue waters of Lake Tahoe. The photo was taken on August 25, 2007 near South Lake Tahoe, close to the Nevada/California state line, off of US Highway 50. This scenic highway carves around and through the Sierra Nevada Mountains and along the shores of Lake Tahoe. Though in the past rock climbers have pursued their hobby on this picturesque slab of stone, Cave Rock was recently designated as a protected Native American site. This designation will retard its rate of erosion.
