This strange looking icicle, looking like the tusk of a mammoth, formed on the north side of a metal arch that supports the catwalk running along the pier to a lighthouse in South Haven, Michigan. As the Sun warmed the south side of the structure the ice peeled off, presumably with the help of a south wind. The "sickle" was an impressive 3.3 ft (1m), as measured along a line from the tip to the origin. Photo taken on February 16, 2008.
