The photo above shows a midnight view of El Torcal de Antequera, a picturesque nature reserve in the Sierra del Torcal range, located south of the city of Antequera, Spain, in the province of Málaga in Andalucía. This area is known for its unusual landforms and has one of the most impressive karst (limestone) landscapes in Europe. Because of very strong light pollution from nearby towns and cities, including Málaga, 27 miles (45 km) away, it’s possible to walk between the formations after nightfall without the aid of a flashlight, especially if low hanging clouds reflect the stray light. Photo taken on April 6, 2008.

Photo Details: Canon EOS 400D camera with Canon EF-S 18-55/3.5-5.6 zoom lens at f/9 with a 422 second exposure and an ISO rating of 1600.
