This picture of a team from the University of Thessaloniki, Greece entranced by a total solar eclipse was taken with a 6 megapixel web-camera and a handmade filter (black area). The superimposed picture showing totality was taken through a 100 mm ED telescope. This truly breathtaking eclipse was captured above Akademgorodok (Academy Town) in Novosibirsk, Russia. on August 1, 2008.

In 2009, a total solar eclipse will occur on July 22, across portions of India and China -- the two most populous nations in the world.
