This view from the town of Montepulciano in Tuscany, Italy shows a forested limestone hill, stately hillside residences and the famous Tuscan light. For artists and photographers, the moderate sized hills and picturesque, fertile valleys of this region are ideal for the study of light in composition. The region once served as an important “breadbasket” for ancient Rome. Montepulciano is located in the province of Siena in east central Tuscany and is renowned for its fine wine and sumptuous fare. Photo taken in May of 2009.
