If a picture can actually make you feel better on an insufferably hot summer's day, this photo of Picture Lake might just do the trick. Picture Lake, in the Mt Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, is found in Washington's North Cascade mountains. Mount Shuksan is reflected here in the lake's cold, still water. In clean air, distinguishing the actual object from its reflection may not be straightforward; little light is lost in the reflection shown above; though the reflected image is indeed darker. For those of us baking in the sizzling, summer Sun, think cool. Photo taken on July 6, 2010.
