The photo above shows a charming, mid-autumn scene not far from Port Allegany, Pennsylvania. Many of the leaves had already fallen when this picture was snapped carpeting the forest floor and littering the little brook. Today is celebrated in the United States as Thanksgiving, a day to give thanks that originated with the Plymouth Colony’s first harvest in 1621. Canadians' Thanksgiving holiday is in October, and many other countries and cultures have long set aside a day of gratitude for the sustaining yields provided by the land and sea. Photo taken on October 29, 2010.
