The photo above showing threatening monsoon rain clouds and a roaring mountain stream was taken in northern India -- in the lush foothills of the Himalayan Mountains. Most all streams flowing through these foothills have their source in the snowfields or glaciers of the high Himalayas. I can attest that despite the summertime temperatures, the water was ice cold! Greatest streamflow occurs during the snow melt season (May-July) and wet monsoon season (typically June through September). Photo taken near Dharamsala, India in July of 2007.
