There are 53 peaks over 14,000 ft (4,267 m) in the U.S. state of Colorado. Each summit has a minimum of 330 ft (100 m) of topographic prominence -- every one is at least 330 ft above the surrounding landscape. Hiking the "fourteeners" is a fairly common recreational activity in Colorado; sometimes hundreds of hikers will scale a particular peak on a single day. In this photo panorama, taken from the top of Mount Bierstadt (14,060 ft or 4,285 m), hikers celebrate their successful climb and enjoy the spectacular view. Photo taken on August 11, 2012.
