Onion Valley is in the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains about 14 mi (22 km) west of Independence, California. Many good trailheads are located at the top of the road that gradually climbs up into the Sierras. In April 2014, there was so much snow that it was difficult to do a lot of hiking, but I was able to find a trail for about an hour until I sunk above my knees in snow. The payoff was seeing this gorgeous waterfall. At roughly 30 ft (9 m) high, it sits at an elevation of about 9,600 ft (3,000 m). Photo taken on April 12, 2014.
