This panorama shows a severe thunderstorm that slammed into north central Illinois during the afternoon of June 30, 2014. It seemed that wind was blowing clouds in three different directions at the same time. However, no rotation was detected. Wind gusts were estimated at 50 mph (80 km/h). The lightning show that followed was amazing! Later in the evening a second storm brought damaging hail and winds clocked at 70 mph (102 km/h). This storm was part of a convective complex that also plowed across parts of Iowa and western Illinois. Photo taken at approximately 4:30 p.m.
