The massive Lagazuoi (9,062 ft or 2,762 m) is shown above with its reflection in Lake Limedes, near Falzarego Pass, Italy. Lagazuoi is part of the Northern Dolomites ranges of northeastern Italy; as the name implies the region is rich in dolomite rock. Note that the Dolomites, on the UNESCO World Heritage List, contain some of the best-preserved examples of fossil reefs from the Mesozoic. Photo taken on September 14, 2014.
