Shown above are meteors from the annual Geminid meteor shower raining down on the mountains of the Sichuan Province of China. Despite a bright quarter Moon rising around midnight (at far left), sky enthusiasts near Mount Balang in Siguniangshan National Park counted as many as 150 meteors per hour. At left is brilliant Jupiter, Sirius is at center and Orion at top center. Photo taken on December 13, 2014.
