In the foreground is the inactive Batok cone with Mount Bromo (7,641 ft or 2,329 m) smoldering to its left. The Tengger caldera is about 10 m (16 km) wide and contains five stratovolcanoes formed over the last 820,000 years. Seen in the background is Mount Semeru the highest point on the island.
