A portion of the Venice Lagoon and the city of Burano, Italy is visible in the photo above, taken from the top of the bell-tower of St. Maria Assunta Cathedral on Torcello island. The city of Burano is known for its brightly painted houses and Oblique Bell Tower. Burano island lies about 4 mi (7 km) from Venice. Burano and Torcello are both islands in the northern end of Venice lagoon, which is one of the most important and largest wetland areas in the Mediterranean Sea. Photo taken on April 20, 2015.
