The city of Pacifica, California, declared a state of emergency last week after powerful waves, heavy rain and landslides from El Niño-related winter storms accelerated the erosion of its coastal bluffs. Some of the residents living on the edge of the cliff were asked to evacuate. The top and bottom photos show different views of the Pacifica Apartments. Note that the bottom photo was taken at low tide. Photos taken on January 27, 2016.
