Summary Author: Bill Schultz MD
This photo showing a frozen waterfall was captured at Ash Cave in Hocking Hills State Park, Ohio, following last month's deep freeze in the U.S. Midwest. A small stream flows over the rim of the cave, plunging some 90 ft (27 m) into what's usually a small pool at the cave's entrance. However, as bitter cold polar air roared into the region on February 12 and 13, the plunging stream of water gradually froze, creating this enormous, hollow ice cone. Photo taken on February 19, 2016.
