This panoramic view from the Southern Andes shows Grande Glacier, Torre Glacier and Torre Lake in the province of Santa Cruz, Argentina. Grande Glacier is featured at right center. Torre glacier is just to the right of Grande Glacier and is much less conspicuous since it's covered by dust and debris. Both glaciers are named for the mountains from where they originate. Their meltwater forms Torre Lake, seen in the foreground. Note that the dark strips visible on Grande Glacier just above the ablation zone are nunataks — rocky outcrops or ridges uncovered by the glacial ice.
