Summary Authors: Miguel Angel Bosi; Jim Foster
The photo above showing the foothills of one of the ranges of the Andes Mountains was taken on a flight between Córdoba, Argentina and Santiago, Chile. The play of morning light and shadow enhances this deeply sculpted landscape found on the eastern flank of the Southern Andes, where prevailing winds from the west severely limit moisture availability on the leeward (eastern) slopes. Note that an early season snowfall has tipped the higher ridges. Photo taken on May 5, 2015.
