The photo above shows alpenglow immersing snow-covered Mount Teide (12,188 ft or 3,715 m) in Teide National Park, Canary Islands, Spain, as observed on February 25, 2016. An indigo sky and lavender-colored anticrepuscular rays herald the approach of nightfall. The snow that fell here in late February was one of the biggest snowfalls in the past 100 years.
