Summary Author: Marco Rank

Shown above is a white-elephant's-trunk-like tornado that formed from a supercell thunderstorm over eastern New Mexico (between the towns Dora and Milnesand) on May 29, 2015. Lingering rays of sunlight illuminate the funnel just as it touches down. The near vertical arch of a rainbow (at far right) signals that the Sun is very close to the horizon.
