Archive - Claudette Sunset
July 30, 2017
Each Sunday we present a notable item from our archives. This EPOD was originally published July 29, 2003.
The above panoramic view (three photos stitched together) of the spillover of clouds from Hurricane Claudette was captured earlier this month. Even though the eye the storm was hundreds of miles away from my location (near Fort Worth, Texas), I was still close enough to observe Claudette's leading spiral bands as it approached the south Texas coast from the Gulf of Mexico. These high, rather dense, cirrus clouds produced a glorious sunset. [Revised July 2017]
