In Norfolk, Virginia, the call was for 86 percent coverage of the Sun by the Moon during the great eclipse of 2017. Unfortunately, at 2:41 p.m., a cloud moved across the Sun and we did not see the full effect. However, before that, using the leaves of a tree as a pinhole, the crescent shape of the Moon covering the Sun was visible on the sidewalk near my office.
