Shown above is a bright nova in the constellation of Carina (NOVA Carina ASASSN-18fv/N CAR 2018) as observed from Santos, São Paulo, Brazil on March 26, 2018. This new star was first discovered on March 20. Its estimated magnitude, at it brightest, was perhaps 6.4. If it maintained this brightness it would only be visible to the naked eye in very dark locations of the Southern Hemisphere and the southern portion (south of about 20 degrees north latitude) of the Northern Hemisphere.
