After 3 years of waiting, I was able to once again climb the majestic Acatenango volcano to view the imposing Vulcan de Fuego. My colleague, Yinng Najera, and guide, Aprode, and I were greeted with an extraordinary sunrise and several minor but exciting explosions. Fuego, a stratovolcano, erupts with some regularity, but the last major eruption occurred in 1974. Photo taken on August 18, 2018.
